Chapelle Matisse This chapel was entirely realized by Matisse from 1948 to 1951. The artist considers it as his masterpiece. Fondation Emile Hugues Located into the historical city of Vence, the Château de Villeneuve – Fondation Emile Hugues is a Contemporary Art exhibitions' place. One exhibition concerns the stay in Vence of the artists Matisse, Dufy, Chagall and Dubuffet.

Fondation Maeght High place of contemporary art, the Maeght Fondation presents permanent exhibitions (Miro, Giaconetti, Chagall...) and seasonal exhibitions. Chapelle Folon Jean-Michel Folon, Belgian artist who used to live in Saint Paul de Vence, decorated this chapel. This was his last work and the last artist's chapel from the Mediterranean south. Musée d'Histoire locale On the Church Square, come to discover Saint Paul village's History and mores.

Musée International de la Parfumerie After your visit in the International Perfumery Museum, you will know everything about fragrance creativity and evolution on 4000 years. Musée Fragonard This museum is located in a charming mansion from the 18th century. It is dedicated to Jean-Honoré Fragonard who was born in Grasse. It presents a wonderful collection from the artist, and from Marguerite Gérard and Jean-Baptiste Mallet, renowned painters from this time. Musée provençal du costume et du bijou This museum presents an aesthetic collection of wearing and jewels of Provence from the 18th and 19th century. It is located in a nice aristocratic mansion.

Musée Renoir Renoir chose this house to end his life. Perfectly conserved, the Domaine des Collettes will be dream you between trinkets, paintings and some art works from Renoir's friends, Bonnard and Dufy.

Musée Picasso The Château Grimaldi was, from September to November 1946, Picasso studio. This museum will make you discover an important collection of the artist, and works by contemporary artists as well (Hans Hartung, Nicolas de Staël ... ). Villa Eilenroc This villa built in 1867, was designed by Charles Garnier architect of the Paris Opera. The owner named it Eilenroc, the anagram of his wife's first name, Cornélie. The splendid 11-ha park features an extraordinary variety of trees and a breathtakingly view over the Bay.

Verrerie de Biot Come to discover the renowned glass manufactory where you could buy glasses made front of you. Musée Fernand Léger This national museum gives the public an opportunity to discover this major "avantgardiste" artist, from his research work on cubism to his large coloured compositions of the fifties. The museum present a unique collection of his paintings, ceramics and drawings.

Musée Matisse The personal collection of the painter who used to live in Nice decorates this magnificent 17th century Genoan-style villa. Musée Chagall The largest public collection of Chagall's works of art is presented into this museum. Musée des arts asiatiques The various Asian cultures are presented with historical, ethnographical and decorative sides. MAMAC - Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain 1200 modern works from 31 artists are combined to point out the link between the European "Nouveau Réalisme" and the American Pop art. Les Trois Corniches The Three Cornices, these famous roads which line the seafront from Nice to Monaco, offer a wonderful view on the sea. There you will discover the Riviera hidden jewels.

Saint Honorat Grow up a vineyard on an island: nobody would trust this aim, except Saint-Honorat's monks who product this divine wine. Bellet Typical vineyard perched on Nice's hills. You could taste excellent olive oil as well.

Permeating the hotel’s scenic French gardens, the works of the Spain’s finest artistic exports, Manolo Valdés, will take center stage and offer guests and hotel visitors a sensory delight.

Hailing from Valencia, Spain, Manolo Valdés is one of few artists who has mastered multiple mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking.  Influenced by historical masterpieces, Valdés creates large-scale, timeless works that are a fusion of ‘image and matter’, wedded together to create something that wanders between pop art and material art; between social and political expression; and a continuous search for reinvention.  Throughout his long and impressive career, Valdés has never stopped investigating and reinventing art, with an insatiable appetite for conceptual and plastic experimentation. The result is unanimous critical acclaim and international recognition from a growing public for his works that can be found in the great museums of the world.  At Château Saint-Martin, four impressive bronze sculptures will take pride of place in the gardens, depicting butterflies, royalty and a woman atop a horse.  Strategically peppered around the hotel’s grounds, guests will delight in discovering a fairy-tale-like figure at every turn.

This season, Château Saint-Martin & Spa invites you to discover a destination in a new way. Amateur and professional cyclists alike can take in the beautiful, diverse landscapes that the French riviera has to offer.

The coast reveals exquisite and astonishing natural scenery that is not to be missed. As soon as you set off from the establishment, you’ll be greeted with this rich nature and have the opportunity to visit villages, discover mountainous landscapes and soak up breathtaking views across the Mediterranean.

If they set off in the morning, guests will be given a picnic to enjoy in the heart of nature. If they leave in the afternoon, they’ll be provided with a snack. These gourmet gifts have been specially created for the occasion by the hotel’s Executive Chef, Jean-Luc Lefrançois. An avid sports enthusiast, Jean-Luc Lefrançois would be delighted to join the bike ride, upon prior request and depending on his availability.

Château Saint-Martin & Spa guests can choose to enjoy the outing alone or accompanied by an expert professional guide. If they opt to go it alone, they will be given a detailed route and a GPS to guide them.

Where the mountains meet the sea

The area around Vence is a veritable rambler’s paradise. It serves up over 124 miles of hiking trails, some well-signed and others unmarked, promising a breathtaking medley of vistas mixed with moments of pure emotion. It is in Vence, and notably at the Col de Vence mountain pass, that the French Riviera unveils its “other” more natural and nurturing side. The Col de Vence, which clings to four rocky outcrops known as the “Baous”, culminates at a height of 3,159 feet, offering stunning panoramic views right across the Mediterranean.

Wild at heart

The Col de Vence nestles within the Préalpes d’Azur Natural Regional Park, an inhabited rural area renowned for its rich natural and cultural heritage, not to mention its spectacular scenery. The whole area is an incredible natural playground for anyone with a passion for nature and plants. Tailored to accommodate ramblers, the site helps preserve the region’s natural heritage by giving farmers the opportunity to pursue age-old agricultural activities, such as pastoralism and beekeeping - activities that play an active part in safeguarding the Col de Vence’s biodiversity. Three horse riding centres have also made the area their home.

A ramble along the Col de Vence

Being transferred by car from the Château Saint-Martin & Spa to the Col de Vence gives guests the opportunity to take in the area’s breathtaking natural beauty and offers a taste of what is to come.

The coastline unfurls from the Italian town of Bordighera across to the bay of Cannes and beyond. On reaching the Col de Vence, the mountain-filled view delivers on every level, framed by the Alpine foothills and showcasing a magical succession of high-reaching peaks exceeding a dizzying 9,000 feet, marking out the Franco-Italian border.

This ramble not only gives guests the opportunity to take in some truly sumptuous scenery, but also to explore sites of local geological interest and admire the region’s splendid flora, including carpets of wild orchids and peonies. The one-of-a-kind walk across the Saint-Barnabé plateau also offers a wonderful way of getting into shape.

Guests who opt for the morning ramble will be provided with a picnic lunch they can enjoy in the heart of nature. Those who prefer to head out in the afternoon will be provided with an afternoon snack. These mouth-watering morsels will be specially created by Executive Head Chef, Jean-Luc Lefrançois. A sports-lover himself, the Chef would be delighted to join guests on the ramble, subject to being given prior notice and depending on his availability.

Having completed the ramble, guests will be transferred back from the Col de Vence to the Château Saint-Martin & Spa by car.
