This shallow body of water lies between the Australian state of Queensland and Papua New Guinea.   Within the strait, there are a large number very small islands, most of which are governed by Australia.  Amongst the over 200 islands, very few are populated due danger from rising ocean tides.  However, the inhabited islands possess thriving indigenous fishing communities and beautiful beach side resorts.
