Overview
Introduction
In north-central British Columbia, 590 mi/945 km north of Vancouver, Fort St. James National Historic Site (open mid-May to mid-October) has a beautifully restored Hudson's Bay Company fur-trading post that was first established in 1808. The five wooden buildings were constructed later in the century and now contain period furnishings and other artifacts. In the same region, near Vanderhoof, is the Nechako Bird Sanctuary. More than 50,000 Canada geese stop there in the spring and fall months.
