Marine Habitats
The waterscape surrounding Atlantis comprises 11 million gallons of water and more than 50,000 sea animals, representing over 200 species. They live in 11 exhibit lagoons – the largest marine habitat in the world, second only to Mother Nature. Most of the marine life is indigenous to Bahamian waters and they live in a sophisticated ecosystem. Their well-being is diligently monitored by state-of-the-art aquarium technology. These water-dwelling guests range from sharks to barracudas in the Predator Lagoon, to the lionfish and jewelfish in The Dig, to the spotted eagle and stingrays in the Water's Edge Lagoon. There's even a tank of seemingly phosphorescent jellyfish.
All the animals at Atlantis, from piranha to giant groupers, tuna to jellyfish, rays to sea turtles, are closely monitored and cared for by a staff of 61 marine technicians – the 'Seakeepers.' The Seakeepers feed the animals restaurant-quality seafood including shrimp, squid, smelt and a variety of fish; approximately 600 pounds of food is prepared daily. The larger animals are given multivitamins every day, and romaine lettuce is served to the herbivorous animals such as the turtles and angelfish. Guests can join the Seakeepers for feedings that take place daily throughout the resort, and participate in informative talks about the various interesting habits – mating, eating and more – of the underwater animals.

Dolphin Lagoon
Dolphin Cay
A world-class marine habitat dedicated to conservation, rehabilitation and education.Sometimes the best way to describe something is by saying what it isn't. Dolphin Cay isn't an aquarium, it's not an entertainment facility, and it doesn't stage marine shows. Dolphin Cay is one of the world's largest open-air, man-made marine mammal habitats. It was opened in 2007 in response to a need to provide a safe haven for 17 stranded dolphins whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Located on the west side of Atlantis, the 14-acre environment includes an 11-acre lagoon complete with coves and sandy beaches, 7 connected "residential" pools, an animal rescue-rehabilitation hospital, an animal pharmacy and a separate sea lion center.Every visit to Dolphin Cay supports the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation, creating and promoting solutions for a wide range of marine conservation challenges from coral reef degradation to marine species in decline.
