History of Barcelona

Since time immemorial, Barcelona has been a meeting place and melting pot of some of the most important Mediterranean cultures across the centuries. The historical and artistic legacy left by these civilizations is perfectly reflected by its rich and varied architectural heritage. This historic area encompasses el Gothic Quarter in the center; on its left, the Raval and on its right, the Born. In the area below, you’ll find Barceloneta, the old fishing quarter.
