Overview
Introduction
Dependencies of the Falklands Islands and claimed by both Argentina and the U.K., the South Orkneys were used as a base for whalers in the 19th century. Today, the main island, Coronation, is the site of a British research station where scientists are studying the nesting habits of snow and cape petrels.
