Parga, Greece, is a popular holiday town located 180 mi/290 km northwest of Athens. It has fine beaches, seafood restaurants, a lively atmosphere in summer and a 13th-century Venetian castle that now houses a modern-day cafe.
There are other interesting coastal towns near Parga, such as Preveza (quaint, narrow streets) and Nikopolis, which means Victory City in Greek. It was founded by Octavius (later the Emperor Augustus) in honor of his stunning naval defeat of Antony and Cleopatra. Nikopolis also has an interesting archaeological museum.
