Stykkisholmur
Overview
Introduction
Located 75 mi/120 km northwest of Reykjavik on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Stykkisholmur, Iceland, is the jumping-off point for visits to the Snaefellsjokull, a glacier-capped extinct volcano marking the beguiling tundra connecting the peninsula's fishing villages such as Hellnar, Arnarstapi and Olafsvik. Plan to spend two to three nights, depending on whether you intend to hike the glacier.
