Canary Islands 7 day intensive cruise with Azamara

March 2023 Canary Islands

PROS: Extended time in each port, very affordable

CONS: Long flight times to travel to Canary Islands for 7 night cruise, cabins are fairly small

RECOMMENDED: Yes

Air travel time, cruise costs, time in port, specialty restaurant booking, shipboard credit, and timing of excursions

More time in each port make Azamara itineraries very desirable. Because of the distance to the Canary Islands and the cost of air travel, it makes the 7 day cruise not very cost effective unless combined with a pre and/or post travel experience in that area of the world. The cabins are smaller than other cruiselines but the ship only holds 684 pax. which provides a comfortable, uncrowded feeling. Highly suggest booking specialty restaurants ahead of time rather than waiting to book once aboard the ship, since if the ship is full, the specialty restaurants are frequently unavailable, due to their small seating capacity. The timing of the excursion is important because during the 3 hour siesta time right after lunch, many tourist sites and facilities are closed. The food and staff were excellent.
